Hedvig Algotsson: 40 Digital Women to Watch 2020: Where Are They Now?

Great news: the annual Digital Women Awards are back for 2021! After an unpredictable year for all of us in the Digital Women community and beyond, we knew how important it was to bring this much-anticipated event back for its second year. After all, when has there been a better time to celebrate the extraordinary adaptability and achievements of women in digital than in the wake of a year like 2020?
Today, we’re chatting to Hedvig Algotsson, Account Director at Wildfire and award-winning influencer and social media marketing expert. We’ve brought her back for this blog series to learn a little bit more about her journey since being named as one of Digital Women’s 40 Digital Women to Watch in 2020. Hopefully, we’ll also inspire you to enter yourself or nominate a fellow woman for the Digital Women Awards this year!
Did you share the news of being named one of our 40 Digital Women to Watch with your community?
I shared the great news with my colleagues and some of my clients. I also have it listed on my LinkedIn profile.
How did being featured as a Digital Woman to Watch in 2020 affect your career?
It was great to connect with all the lovely, like-minded digital women on the night and virtually thereafter. The Digital Women award show was one of the last events I managed to attend before lockdown so I remember it particularly fondly.
How did the changing role of digital and tech-based businesses and the sudden reliance on digital in 2020 affect you and your business?
As a social-first agency, we are digital and tech-driven through and through. With the challenges 2020 has posed our digital-first approach has allowed us to further support our clients pivoting their online presence through cutting edge social and influencer strategy.
Do you have any advice for women who are considering entering themselves or nominating others for the Digital Women Awards?
Do it! You’ll be in great company with some of the brightest women around. All of the digital women are super inspiring, and some of the most interesting innovators within the digital and tech industries.
Are there any names that spring to mind that you think we should be watching out for 2021?
Fabulous, Sophia George for being an outstanding digital woman in gaming. I also have to mention Lily Bedwell and Aline Boulan, Senior Account Executive and Account Manager at Wildfire, who have both gone from strength to strength during this challenging year.
And finally, what is your favourite thing about the Digital Women community?
An opportunity to network and get inspired by some awesome ladies. The network gives you a unique insight into new areas within digital and tech that you might not be as familiar with.
