“Empowering Women in Business: An Interview with Joy from Tech Pixies”

As the founder of Digital Women, I am thrilled to kick off our interview series with none other than Joy from Tech Pixies. Joy is a true champion of women in business, and her work in empowering and supporting others is truly inspiring.

In this interview, we discuss her journey as a business owner, the importance of setting goals and entering awards, and her advice for those looking to do the same.

One of the first things I asked Joy was about her background and how she got started in the tech industry. She shared that she had always been interested in technology and started her career in IT before transitioning to setting up her own business, Tech Pixies. She said that she knew early on that she wanted to help other women in technology, and that goal has been at the forefront of her mind ever since.

I also asked Joy about her experience entering awards and the impact it has had on her business. She shared that awards are a great way to build trust with potential clients and customers. Winning awards gives your company an edge over others that have not won any awards. She also pointed out that the process of writing down your achievements and sharing them through award applications is a great way to remind yourself of all the great work that you have done and the progress you have made.

Joy also shared that it’s important to have somebody else review your application before submitting it. She said that it’s essential to make sure that your application is clear, concise, and impactful. She also suggested that using images or illustrations can be helpful as people process images faster than words.

When asked about her advice for those thinking about entering awards, Joy said that the most important thing is to believe in yourself and your abilities. She encouraged people to put themselves forward for awards, even if they don’t think they will win. The act of applying is a way to recognize your own achievements and the hard work you have put in. She also reminded that awards are not just about winning, but also about celebrating the progress you have made and the people who have helped you along the way.

I also asked Joy about the Digital Women Awards, which are currently open for nominations. She said that even if you don’t nominate yourself, you can still enter and be judged by a panel of judges. She also mentioned that most people who win awards nominate themselves and encouraged people to do the same if they believe they have done a great job.

Joy from Tech Pixies is a true inspiration and her story is a reminder of the importance of setting goals and taking action to achieve them. Entering awards not only gives you the opportunity to be recognised for your hard work, but also helps you to reflect on your progress and the impact you have made.
