Discovering a New Purpose: A Q&A with Personal Branding and Social Media Specialist, Ella Orr

Ella Orr is a personal branding and social media specialist and the founder and owner of Much More Social. In this Q&A, Ella shares her inspiring story of how she left her career as a teacher to retrain in social media marketing and start her own business. She also provides valuable insights and advice on personal branding, social media strategy and content creation. In her upcoming session at Digital Women Live on March 22nd, Ella will be sharing her personal story and giving practical advice to help attendees overcome the barriers to achieving the success they desire.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?

A: Hi, I’m Ella Orr. I’m a personal branding and social media specialist, and the founder and owner of Much More Social. Before retraining in social media marketing, I was a teacher for many years. I deliver individual and group training and consultancy on personal branding, social media strategy and content creation. I make good use of my transferable skills from teaching in my masterclasses and talks to memberships.

Q: What inspired you to start your own business, Much More Social?

A: In 2017, I left the teaching profession after 30 years, feeling disillusioned and in despair about my current role. I was determined to find new purpose in my working life, and stumbled across social media marketing and enrolled on a course. After retraining, I started my personal branding and social media marketing business, which is going from strength to strength.

Q: Can you tell us more about your session, “The Career You Want is Out There. Go Get It!” at Digital Women Live?

A: In my session, I’ll be sharing my personal story of how I overcame the belief that I was too old and lacking relevant experience to retrain in a new career. I’ll explain how life-changing, but also challenging, my journey has been and describe how I have discovered new attributes in my character which I never realized I had. I’ll also give practical advice and ideas to help attendees break down the barriers to achieving the success they desire, and give practical suggestions for how to move towards achieving their goals and being intentional. Whether you’re looking to change careers, retrain, or start a new business, this session is designed to give you the boost to start following your dream and start thinking strategically.

Q: What do you think is the key to success in personal branding and social media marketing?

A: In my experience, the key to success in personal branding and social media marketing is authenticity. Being true to yourself and your values, and being consistent in your messaging and content, is essential to building a strong personal brand and connecting with your target audience.
